NEWS... A rare live outing for Limbo in Bristol, in the still-rarer full six-piece configuration... Limbo and Gerald Tyler's show 'Big Hands' a critical success... Details on news page...

Limbo:

A group of six musicians, all committed to music that is improvised, open-ended and spontaneous. Limbo believe that the experimental musicians of the '70's- Can, Miles Davis and others- opened up a territory that is still largely unexplored: a zone of uncertainty where freedom of expression is everything.
Limbo emerged blinking into the daylight in 2000, from a dingy shared studio in a crumbling building in Bristol. The original six band members are still involved, but Limbo have also performed as a quartet and a quintet, and have collaborated with many other musicians, artists and performers along the way.

Moles, the lovely Bath venue, say on their website:

"Like all outstanding groups Limbo's tone is instantly recognizable, but still individual... At times they improvise like The Art Ensemble of Chicago, they groove like Miles and they drift into experimental rock, but at all times the sound they make is the essence of jazz."

The band bring a wide range of musical influences from their other projects and activities, which include Grand Drive, Blurt, The Blue Aeroplanes, Statik Sound System, Scissor Sisters, Spaceways and Earthfall Dance.
Every time that Limbo plays the music is different: there are no fixed tunes, no arrangements: everything is fluid. The only set-list is a list of musical areas, atmospheres or emotions to be explored. It is usually ignored.

The Limbo Dogma:

1) Concentrate on what everyone else is playing, not on what you're playing yourself.
2) If you want the music to go somewhere in particular, play it, don't say it.
3) That's it.

Gigs feature inventive live visuals, created by Reuben Knutson.
